Silverio Compound is a community with 26,000 families who belong in the C,D and E classes. They don't have anything but their homes and livelihoods. They have been fighting legally for their rights in their land.
2 days before the violent demolition, the Mayor delivered a speech in a graduation ceremony telling them that there will be no demolition that will happen and the residents can sleep well. The residents are not expecting that the demolition team will be hundreds of armed policemen and snipers positioned in the mall in front of the compound. Many were shot and wounded, one died. The commercial spaces in front were demolished.
We have also learned that the mainstream media delivered false reports regarding the incident that took place. They have chosen which details they are going to report. Well, business as usual.

Together with the 15 interns, I had so much fun in my first day. Now, I already know a lot of places because we only commute in field works. It was also my first time to ride the PNR Train from Sucat to Blumentritt. It was really a memorable experience doing field works.
Yay! I'm looking forward for more learnings! It was really fulfilling to report stories of our fellow marginalized people! :)
